Your research paper outline structure seems to imply an interesting opposition between two forms of social relation: 'tribalism' and 'capitalism'. Mark Fisher's excellent book, 'Capitalist Realism'
compares two gangster films as a way of contrasting these two forms of power. In 'The Godfather', the identities of the characters, and the narratives they participate in are structured around
kinship and territory, crosscut with rituals and feuds. In 'Heat', the protagonists play purely professional roles, motivated neither by personal loyalty nor animosity — just the job. Like a
hired car on a freeway, the drama ranges across a deterritorialized landscape of anonymous urban sprawl. If the tribe represents continuity, perhaps capitalism represents continual change?
